Ostercappeln
Ostercappeln lies in the nature park Terra Vita, one of the largest nature reserves in Germany. 70% of the natural park area consists of wooded areas with diverse and sometimes rare plants. The Wittekindsweg runs on the ridge of the Wiehengebirge from Osnabrück to Ostercappeln, Bad Essen to Minden in the Weserbergland. A number of other trails (e.g. DIVA Walk, Arminiusweg, Mühlenweg) and circular routes open up the surrounding area for hikers and walkers.
The distance from Ostercappeln to Bad Essen amounts about 10 km (2010 horticultural show Bad Essen).
For
cyclists offer the north, with its subsequent lowland swamps, lakes and the Midland Canal charming and shallow targets.
